Baby

Baby kit compared by safety standards, age range and the parts you still need to buy.

Guide updated 14 October 2026

Baby products need a current safety standard and a clear age or weight range, not a soft photograph. Look for the standard the manufacturer cites, the weight limits, and whether the item is a complete unit or a base, liner or adaptor sold alone.

This site does not give parenting or medical advice. Use the manufacturer’s instructions, and check current UK safety guidance when you are choosing sleep, travel or feeding products. Second-hand or incomplete safety kit is a different decision from a new sealed item, and the listing should say which one it is.

What to check

  • Age, weight or height range printed for that exact model.
  • Safety standard or regulation the manufacturer names.
  • Whether the base, mattress, bottle teat size or adaptor is included.
  • Materials, washing instructions and replacement parts.
  • That the offer is new and complete if that is what you meant to buy.

Easy mistakes

  • A car-seat base, liner or adaptor photographed as if it were the whole seat.
  • Sleep products with marketing language and no stated standard.
  • Age ranges that differ between the title and the specification table.

Questions before you buy

  • Is this the full product or an accessory?
  • Which weight range does the manufacturer print?
  • Where will you find the instructions and any recall notice for this model?
